Salay Handmade
Paper Industries, Inc. (SHAPII) uses indigenous raw materials. Its
processing method is almost completely manual.
PAPER MAKERS IN ACTION.Raw materials are cut, washed, cooked and blended. Each
piece of paper is created in a mould and deckle, couched in
cloth, pressed by hand and left to dry for days by air, sunlight
or steam.
CRAFTMEN
COMPETING BY TEAMS! Finished sheets are handcrafted into
cards, boxes, notepads, picture frames, lamps, and other items.
DESIGNERS.
Working in a system of clusters at their homes, housewives and
out-of-school youths painstakingly arrange tiny leaves, twigs,
and petals on the sheets, producing unique, intricate designs.
Tiny scissors, tweezers and magnifying glasses are used.
QUALITY CONTROL AT THREE LEVELS! After
the making of the paper, when crafting is done and the design
is executed, a group of our workers make sure that the products
meet international standard.
PACKING AS THE LAST STEP. Packing
cushions our precious creations as they wing their way by
air or sea to our clients. Many times we whisper to the outgoing
goods, "Go, give joy to whoever you touch …"
The making of any globally competitive
product requires trained hands and effective quality control system.
At SHAPII, however, the end-product alsobreathes
with inspirations of the workers who regard it not only as a means
of livelihood but most of all value it as a handicraft. By choosing
SHAPII products and paying for fair price, you are working with our
workers and helping them build a better future.
