SHAPII Execs visit Traidcraft, Shared Interest and Marks & Spencer in UK
 SHAPII President Loreta and General Manager Neil Francis Rafisura graced the
General Membership Meeting of Fair Trader Traidcraft in Geteshead, UK in September 2007 upon their invitation. Her presentation of the SHAPII experience touched
the hearts of Traidcraft supporters all over UK.
It was mutual enjoyment for the Rafisura mother and son team to meet the people who man fair Trade Shops (usually referred in Fair Trade lingo as Northern Partners)
for the love of develpment among Southern partners (us, artisans) without any dole outs in a just trade partnership. More precious than anything else that resulted from this
trip is the closeness that greww between Traidcraft staff and SHAPII.
Upon their return to the Philippines and in SHAPII, the bulletin board exhibited the facess of those with whom they had been corresponding with for years and whom the knew only
by their names. How wonderful to develop international friendship.
Dr. Reynaldo Rafisura:
One of the Ten Go Negosyo 2007 Most Inspiring Entrepreneurs of Northern Mindanao
SHAPII collected another feather on its cap when Chairman of the Board Dr. Reynaldo G. Rafisura was awarded one of the Ten 2007 Most Inspiring Entrepreneurs from Northern Mindanao by the
Philippine Center of Entrepreneurship(PCE) on its latest project, the Go Negosyo(business) Caravan. This project aims to bring the entrepreneurial forums and expositions to key cities in the country
and encourage aspiring businessmen with the success stories of the ten awardees.
Dr. Rafisura was cited because of his determined effort in recognizing handmade papermaking as means of providing employment fo the local residents displaced by the countyryside war between the government and the insurgents.
This fortitude led to the establishment of the globally competitive and socially responsible Salay Handmade Paper Industries, Inc. (SHAPII). The award was received from Mr. Jose Conception, PCE President, at The Atrium, Lim Ket Kai
Center at Cagayan de Oro City on October 19. Other awardees are media bigwig (RMN), Mr. Henry canoy, transport vehicle innovator (Oro Asian Automotive)
