The SHAPII Foundation Alay-sa-Bata Grant-Aid is a scholarship
program given to selected students in Salay. It started in
the year 2000, in the patio of the residence of Dr. Reynaldo
and Mrs. Loreta Rafisura in Salay, Misamis Oriental.

In
2000, we had five scholars, here sitting on the front row.
Behind them are their mothers. I often wonder why fathers
seldom come on occasions like this!

In 2001, we had 14 scholars.

Parents of scholars started to organize themselves into a group in
Year 2002. Twenty-one parents and 21 scholars are trying to find another
livelihood activity to augment their income. They call themselves
the SHAPII Parents For Educational Care Organization. |

Now we are partially supporting seven students in college! Though
the stipend given them is of the same amount, everyone claims, it
is still of help to have a little grant-aid than nothing! Their
parents are now spending more for their tuition … but at least a
portion of their miscellaneous expense are taken cared of.
